Founded in 1938, the National Federation of Republican Women is a national grassroots political organization with thousands of active members in local clubs across the nation and in several U.S. territories, making it one of the largest and most influential women’s political organizations in the country.
Our History in Clay County
The Federated Republican Women of Clay County was chartered in 1980 with the Florida State and National Federation. From a membership that could sit around a dining room table, our membership has grown until we are the largest political club in Clay County. In 1984, we broke the political barrier by presenting three Republican candidates for the ballot: Chance Irvine, Florida House of Representatives; Dorothy Holt, Supervisor of Elections; Ann Wiggins, Superintendent of Schools. Our club is an incubator for winning office. Among our members, we have elected Lt. Governor, Florida House member, Supervisor of Elections, Clerk of Court, School Board members and County Commissioners. In party politics, we have a Chair of the Republican Party of Florida, State Committeewomen, Clay County Chairs and State Board members. Club members have also held offices in the FFRW. .
Our Goals
The goals of every Republican Women’s Organization are to recruit and promote women in politics. As decisive strong minded women we are determined to make a significant difference in legislation and policies being created at local, state and national levels. At the grass roots level we can use our influence and determination to bring the best Republicans, male or female to office. Grassroots means walking neighbourhoods, knocking on doors, working in headquarters to obtain our goal. Being a part of this process is both satisfying and meaningful. The Federated Republican Women of Clay County have been instrumental in the election of Presidents, Governors, Senators, and Representatives and many local elected officials. As a result we can use our impact on important issues facing our nation, state and county.
